Position Overview
Manager – Crisis Readiness & National Response will lead Silal's crisis preparedness, coordination, and response activities across local and federal authorities to ensure continuity of food supply during emergencies, crises, and geopolitical disruptions. This role positions Silal as the lead national entity for food security readiness and reporting at the Abu Dhabi level, while acting as a key supporting entity at the federal level. The role is responsible for regulatory readiness, authority engagement, data-driven crisis reporting, and development of response and recovery plans to prevent food supply disruption
Position Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities as Manager – Crisis Readiness & National Response will include the following:
- Crisis Readiness & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead and manage all crisis readiness drills and exercises mandated by Abu Dhabi Civil Defense and Crisis Management (ADCMC) and National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), ensuring full compliance with local and federal requirements.
- Own the closure of all observations, gaps, and action items arising from drills, audits, and assessments conducted by ADCMC, NCEMA, and other relevant authorities.
- Ensure Silal satisfies all readiness, reporting, and compliance requirements issued by ADCMC, NCEMA, and related crisis management entities
- Authority Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact between Silal and crisis readiness authorities, including but not limited to ADCMC, NCEMA, ADAFSA, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Municipality, and other local entities.
- Position Silal as the lead coordinating entity for food security readiness within Abu Dhabi, working closely with government stakeholders during crisis situations.
- Engage at the federal level as a supporting entity with the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, military entities, and other federal stakeholders to enable smooth crisis operations.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with airports, ports, customs authorities, and logistics stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted food movement during emergencies.
- Crisis Response, Reporting & Recovery Planning
- Monitor geopolitical and regional risk scenarios and assess potential impacts on food supply chains.
- Lead the development of crisis response reports and situation updates required by local and federal authorities, positioning Silal as a trusted source of food security intelligence.
- Design and implement recovery plans to ensure zero or minimal disruption to food supply during and post-crisis.
- Proactively prepare and maintain food supply, logistics, response, and recovery datasets to enable rapid decision-making during crises.
- Data, Analytics & National Food Security Platforms
- Drive data collection, validation, and integration related to food supply, strategic reserves, logistics, and recovery planning.
- Lead analysis and interpretation of food security data to generate actionable insights and recommendations for authorities and internal leadership.
- Support the development and continuous enhancement of the UAE National Food Security Platform, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, positioning it as a one-stop shop for food security data and analytics.
- Coordinate data feeds and reporting with Federal Customs, Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, ports, airports, and other data providers.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and reliable data supply into national systems and produce analytical reports to support policy decisions and crisis response.
- Strategic Reserve & Food Security Enablement
- Support and drive changes to food security policies and strategic reserve frameworks based on data insights, crisis learnings, and evolving risk scenarios.
- Recommend improvements to response mechanisms, logistics flows, and reserve strategies to enhance national food resilience.
Position Requirements:
In order to be successful in this role, you should have
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Public Policy, Emergency Management, Data Analytics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in crisis readiness, food security, supply chain resilience, or government coordination roles.
- Direct experience working with UAE local and federal authorities is highly preferred
