Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Capital and Facilities Management, the incumbent provides leadership for the oversight of university buildings both on and off-campus, contractual services including staff- security, maintenance, custodial, and landscaping, oversees construction and renovation projects, and transportation programs in such a manner as to ensure the environment meets the Universitys operational objectives and governmental and ministry requirements.

Initiate, supervise, and evaluate maintenance projects including building, grounds, utility, parking, equipment, and vehicles

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise university construction and renovation projects ensuring timely completion of tasks and satisfactory sub-contractor performance.
  • Implement and supervise University facility preventive and daily maintenance program.
  • Supervise outsourced security, landscape and cleaning program ensuring AUK campus beautification and safety.
  • Serve as member of campus safety committee; stay alert to all campus safety hazards and address in timely manner.
  • Serve as primary point of contact or liaison with local municipalities as it relates to building, fire, and security safety.
  • Coordinate and help all AUK departments in planning events for internal or external community. Supervise daily requirements for event set-up.
  • Coordinate in conjunction with the Purchasing Department furnishings for AUK offices and spaces.
  • Prepare documents for requests for quotations as necessary.
  • Purchase/rent supplies and equipment within the University purchasing guidelines.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Campus Services staff and contract staff.
  • Maintain a system of grounds and facilities supplies and asset inventory and accounting.
  • Develop and maintain annual budget designed to meet the needs for the Campus Services program.
  • Coordinate and supervise the key and lock management program; manage key records.
  • Assist faculty and staff; serve as university liaison, with facility management requests.
  • Coordinate drivers services program for university and maintain vehicles.
  • Prepare reports as required
  • Develop a professional development and training program for Campus Services staff members.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor degree or higher, preferably in Engineering.

Years Of Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar position

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge, background and experience of all building trades, building construction, building and grounds maintenance, working knowledge of industry cleaning procedures and standards, management of personnel and maintenance budgets; minimum ten years experience in related areas;
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and construction of new buildings, as well as major renovation and repair projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiation and the management of contractual arrangements;
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures as they relate to physical plant;
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal relations skills and the ability to be a team player;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the management of utility systems;

Requirements

  • Valid Kuwaiti driving license.
