Manager Financial Inventory Control & Accounting

On behalf of our client, a leading organization in the environmental and energy sector, we are seeking a Manager Financial Inventory Control & Accounting to oversee the financial control, valuation, and reporting of inventory across the Group. The role will ensure accurate inventory records, effective reconciliation and reporting, and strong internal controls in line with accounting standards. The position will work closely with Finance and operational teams to identify variances, improve inventory accuracy, and safeguard the financial integrity of inventory balances.

Job Responsibilities Will Include:

• Oversee the financial control of inventory balances, ensuring accurate recording, classification, valuation, and reconciliation in the accounting system.
• Manage periodic inventory reconciliations between physical counts, inventory records, and the general ledger, investigating and resolving variances.
• Ensure appropriate inventory valuation, provisions, write-offs, and adjustments in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Group policies.
• Review inventory movements and transactions to identify discrepancies, unusual variances, obsolete or slow-moving inventory, and potential financial risks.
• Lead periodic inventory audits and physical verification exercises, coordinating with Finance, internal audit, external auditors, and relevant business teams.
• Develop and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures around inventory recording, adjustments, transfers, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and analyse inventory-related financial reports, providing management with insights on inventory balances, variances, ageing, provisions, and financial exposure.
• Support ERP and finance-system improvements related to inventory accounting and reporting, ensuring data integrity and alignment between operational records and financial statements.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Must have Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
• Must have 8–10 years of relevant experience in inventory accounting, financial control, inventory reconciliation, or related finance functions, with prior managerial experience.
• Strong understanding of inventory valuation, provisions, write-offs, reconciliations, and financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Proven experience in developing and maintaining internal financial controls and conducting inventory audits and physical verification exercises.
• Strong ERP experience, preferably with SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, or similar systems, particularly in finance and inventory modules.
