Job Purpose:
The Manager - Planning is responsible for overseeing the planning function across all Coastal Contracting Company projects. This includes leading a team of Assistant Managers, Senior Planners, and Planning Engineers, ensuring that planning activities comply with the Coastal Contracting Company Planning Manual and are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in planning within large-scale construction projects, demonstrate leadership and technical expertise, and uphold the company's commitment to excellence in project execution.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the planning function for multiple projects, including cost and schedule analysis, identifying critical path changes, and mitigating risks across the portfolio.
- Support site planners in the preparation of project baselines and ensure timely approval from clients, aligning with project timelines and scope.
- Establish, review, and control schedule quality outputs across various consultants and contractors for a diverse range of projects. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of planning-related issues, including risks, change control, and Critical Path Method (CPM) management.
- Proactively identify and address risks in the planning phase, ensuring that construction documents are clear, specific, and complete to avoid issues during execution. Lead efforts in resolving any time-related claims from consultants and contractors.
- Provide executive-level strategic advice to the management. This includes preparing and presenting management reports, as well as offering insights on schedule performance and project risks.
- Support and mentor Planning Engineers, helping to develop their skills, ensure professional growth, and ensure that planning activities meet company standards and project objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all planning-related matters, coordinating with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Take responsibility for the preparation and submission of Extension of Time (EOT) claims, ensuring they are in compliance with contract terms and submitted in a timely manner. Administer contract-related planning activities, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and the resolution of any delays or disputes.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 12–15 years of experience on large-scale mixed-use development projects.
- Project Management certification / diploma / master's degree (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of materials, construction practices, and the local industry.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
- Proficiency in Primavera Planning (latest version).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for reporting and analysis.
