Job Description

Job Summary

The Managing Quantity Surveyor plays a key role in maximizing project margins and adding value to the construction process through proactive involvement in procurement, cost management, and financial reporting. The role focuses on driving best value from suppliers and subcontractors while ensuring strong commercial control across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage project cash flow forecasts.
  • Measure, value, submit, and negotiate contract variations.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams, including drafting and reviewing correspondence.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate project final accounts.
  • Conduct commercial vetting of subcontractor tenders and contracts.
  • Certify subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  • Ensure adherence to company commercial processes at the project level.
  • Assist in the preparation and control of project purchasing targets and cost budgets.
  • Produce accurate and timely commercial reports in line with business requirements.

Job Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong expertise in cost planning, estimating, and budget management across project lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in contract administration, including drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts and handling claims and disputes.
  • Solid project management skills to control timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills to manage teams and liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • ERP knowledge is required, preferably SAP functional experience.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • Professional qualification with chartered membership (e.g., CIOB or RICS) is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of total working experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or commercial management.
  • GCC experience (minimum 2 years) is an advantage.
