Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage the entire daily marine operations, review processes, formulate plans, and implement agreed initiatives.
- Identify workplace hazards, lead accident investigation, monitor risks, and direct appropriate corrective actionto ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular process control checks and initiate/support performance improvement activities.
- Enforce compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, shipping protocols and laws.
- Validate the availability of materials and equipment for smooth marine operations and maximum productivity.
- Conduct regular visits to ensure effective and safe operation of all Ferries and Marine craft, according to HSE requirements.
- Analyze marine data and prepare reports reflecting operation progress and factors impacting productivity, cost, time, safety, and security.
- Develop and enforce the implementation of operational policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve the efficiency and productivity of ferries
- Build effective communication and coordination with other stakeholders.
- Supervise the maintenance and the repair of infrastructure, ferries equipment, and machinery to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
People Management Responsibilites:
- Allocate resources, including manpower and equipment, to optimize marine activities and minimize downtime.
- Prepare and plan comprehensive training programs.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure that set targets are achieved within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Encourage individuals to report HSE observations, near misses, and incidents.
- Review the HSE performance of the Division/Department and continuously monitor improvement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and assistance to personnel in delivering customer requirements.
Strategic Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with contractors to establish performance standards for operations on behalf of Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
- Foster a high level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness within the Department to maintain a safe working environment.
- Translate maritime and shipping cluster strategies into detailed initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with departmental budgets while working on ground.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Shipping and Port Management, Mechanical Engineering, Logistics or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
- A marine document or license is desirable.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a similar role
Required Skills
- Excellent English. Arabic is an added advantage
- Oil spill management.
- Leadership and effective supervision.
- Problem solving.
- Must be an effective communicator and have good computer skills.
- Must be familiar with all operational, maintenance and repair aspects of the response equipment
- Supervise marine operations, address issues and ensure compliance.
- Coordinate port logistics, ensure compliance with maritime regulations, and manage vendor relationships for supplies and services.
