A leading trading firm is seeking a Market Analyst to support its refined products desk. The role focuses on fundamental market analysis, supply & demand modelling, and forecasting. The analyst will work closely with traders to provide actionable insights, support trade ideas, and track market developments across refined products and, later, crude.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fundamental analysis of refined products markets.
- Build and maintain supply & demand models, balances and forecasts.
- Analyse refinery operations, inventories and trade flows.
- Monitor macro and market drivers impacting refined products.
- Provide real-time analytical support to traders and respond to ad-hoc requests.
- Support trade ideas and market views with data-driven insights.
- Contribute to the development of new product coverage as the desk grow.
Experience:
- 38 years experience in market or fundamental analysis within oil or energy markets.
- Proven coverage of refined products (e.g. naphtha, distillates, gasoline, jet, diesel).
- Hands-on experience with supply & demand modelling, forecasting, and market balances.
- Exposure to refinery analysis, including runs, outages, yields and economics.
- Experience working directly with trading desks or producing research for traders (buy-side or sell-side).
- Background from trading houses, producers, NOCs, funds, banks, exchanges, or specialist research firms.
