Job Description
The Marketing and Communications Associate supports the delivery of integrated marketing and communications activity for Dubai Design Week, contributing across content, social media, digital campaigns and communications operations.
Working as part of a small, collaborative team, the role supports the execution of the festival's year-round marketing and communications strategy. This includes creating content and assets, supporting PR and media activity, coordinating with social media delivery, and helping track performance and reporting.
The role sits at the intersection of communications and marketing, with a predominance of the former. It is suited to someone who is hands on, highly organised and interested in how cultural events communicate with audiences across multiple channels. A background in communications is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Integrated Marketing and Communications Support
- Support the implementation of the overall marketing and communications plan for Dubai Design Week across digital, social and PR channels
- Assist in coordinating activity across internal teams, external agencies and creative partners to ensure messaging, timing and delivery are aligned
- Support day-to-day communications operations in the lead up to and during the festival
Content and Editorial Coordination:
- Support the implementation of the festival's marketing and communications strategy across content and editorial outputs, ensuring alignment with key messaging, campaign objectives and target audiences.
- Coordinate the planning, production and delivery of content across channels, including social media, website, newsletters and OOH.
- Help in shaping and adapting content to ensure consistency in tone of voice, messaging and visual identity.
- Coordinate with external creators including photographers, videographers, designers and copywriters to support on content production.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to contribute to campaign narratives and storytelling frameworks that drive engagement and visibility.
- Maintain organized content libraries, asset folders and version control.
Social Media Management:
- Support the coordination and delivery of social media content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and X.
- Assist with scheduling, publishing and adapting content for platform specific formats and audiences.
- Monitor comments, messages and mentions, supporting community engagement and escalations where required.
- Track platform trends and audience insights to support content planning and reactive opportunities.
Communications and PR Support
- Coordinating with regional and international PR agencies on media requests, tracking media coverage, communications reporting, press trips and onsite press coordination where required.
- Assist with preparing, updating and organising press materials including fact sheets, press kits and image libraries.
- Support responses to media and content requests in line with agreed messaging and timelines.
Digital Campaigns and Reports:
- Support the planning and implementation of digital marketing campaigns in collaboration with internal marketing leads and external digital agencies.
- Assist in developing and adapting creative assets and messaging for owned and paid digital channels.
- Help track and analyse performance across social media, website and digital communications.
- Prepare reports and summaries to inform evaluation and future planning.
Skills and Experiences:
- Minimum 3 years experience in communications, marketing, content or social media roles, preferably within the creative industries, events or cultural sectors. A background in communications is highly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Digital Media or a related field.
- Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms and how content performs across channels.
- Experience coordinating with agencies, creatives or external partners.
- Strong written communication skills and editorial judgement.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Confident working in a fast pace, live event environment.
- Interest in the design, culture, architecture or creative industries.
- Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
- Experience with social media management tools, analytics platforms and basic content editing tools is an advantage.
