Reports to: Director, Global Marketing
Role Purpose:
The marketing manager will develop and implement comprehensive marketing and promotional strategies to significantly enhance awareness and drive sales for the AUC Press, its bookstores, and key titles in the Egyptian and European markets, while adhering to a planned budget.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Assist senior management in developing the overall marketing strategy
- Provide independent commercial analysis and critical feedback on new publishing project proposals for viability
Promotional Execution:
- Cost-effectively coordinate and supervise all marketing, advertising, and promotional staff and activities in Egypt and Europe, which involves organizing 60-80 annual marketing activities, physical and online, and overseeing the creation or distribution of 50-100 promotional materials
Global Coordination and Metadata:
- Coordinate with the Global Marketing Director to standardize individual title Metadata for effective international distribution
Business Development:
- Develop and analyze strategic partnerships to maximize sales
General Administrative Support:
- Perform other related duties as requested
Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field is required
- A minimum of 12 years of work experience, including five years in international trade and marketing, ideally in academic publishing
Technical Skills:
International Market Expertise:
- Familiarity with foreign markets and international publishing standards
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key personnel globally, e.g. authors, customers and vendors
Communication and Presentation:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Possesses polished verbal and written presentation skills and editorial fluency in English and Arabic
Strategic and Analytical:
- Ability to conduct independent commercial analysis of new proposals and leverage new technologies, like data mining, to inform strategy and growth
