Job Description
WSP is seeking a Material Inspector to join our Abu Dhabi team and support the construction supervision of major transportation, roads, utilities, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting materials, monitoring site activities, verifying compliance with project specifications, and ensuring that all construction materials meet the required quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect construction materials delivered to site and verify compliance with approved specifications and project requirements.
- Review material submissions, approvals, test results, and quality documentation.
- Witness sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with approved inspection and test plans.
- Monitor site activities to ensure materials are used in compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections for earthworks, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, utilities, and other infrastructure-related materials.
- Coordinate with contractors, laboratories, site engineers, and project teams to address material-related issues.
- Maintain detailed inspection records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
- Identify non-conforming materials and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Verify compliance with local authority standards, project specifications, and quality procedures.
- Attend site inspections, quality meetings, and coordination meetings as required.
- Ensure all testing activities are carried out in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
- Support Resident Engineers and Site Engineers in maintaining project quality objectives.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Material Inspector on roads, highways, utilities, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience working on construction supervision projects for engineering consultancies.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials including asphalt, concrete, aggregates, soil, and utility-related materials.
- Familiarity with material testing standards, quality control procedures, and inspection practices.
- Experience reviewing laboratory test reports and material approval documentation.
- Knowledge of Abu Dhabi and UAE authority requirements and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and inspection records.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience on major infrastructure and transportation projects within the UAE is preferred.
- Consultancy-side supervision experience is essential.
