Job Description

Role: Materials Coordinator - Aviation/Aerospace

Location: Qatar, Doha

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Material fulfilment function including managing critical logistics activities, liaison with freight forwarders, preparation of gate passes, communicating with external vendors and the Client's MRO network. Work for quick resolution to support OWS site with strong sense of urgency. Put away and pull materials in alignment with production plan and KPIs. Ensure parts are stored as per Quality requirements to prevent damage and contamination.
  • Practice effective inventory management strategy that assures site inventory levels are kept at lean levels which still support shop operations. Assist with regular cycle counts. Helps manage inventory and participate in process improvements initiatives.
  • Create order demand in SAP including creation/duplication of internal material demand with both internal and external sources. Use discretion on bulk ordering to decrease number of POs issued and number of packages to receive. Order consumables as well as execute indirect sourcing via SSS (i.e., shop and office supplies)
  • Assist with Gate 2 processes (repair and kitting cycle) through liaison with technicians, production, and planning team. Unpackage incoming shipments, assist with receiving aviation materials in site ERP, prepare outgoing packages for shipment, including creation of shipping labels with various shipping companies. Physically prep assets to ship and receive (i.e., direct material, indirect material, tooling, consumables).
  • Verifies that all incoming and outgoing parts/ materials/ components comply with local and GE Aviation quality system standards.
  • Visually examine materials and accompanying paperwork for defects and sort articles according to extent of defect. Accurately identify part numbers, serial numbers, and quantities and assure all match the accompanying paperwork.
  • Physically dispose of Scrap hardware and/or low demand/obsolete inventory. Understand import/export/ITC requirements. Create Commercial invoices for parts/tools/materials coming into our going out of the facility.
  • Use powered equipment to complete the necessary task, such as sit-down forklift.
  • Comply with Safety requirements, complete training per schedule, participate in investigations and read-across as requested, promptly identify safety issues, work with team to pursues solutions, and escalate issues.
  • Participate in assessments, read across and PFMEAs to identify and understand sources of defects. Promptly identify and escalate risks to leadership and work with team on solutions.
  • Participate in LEAN events and apply learnings to daily activity. Apply and improve upon standard work in area of responsibility. Identify sources of waste and Customer dissatisfaction, escalate to leadership team and work among the team to find solutions.
  • To perform any additional tasks assigned for the role.

Required skills

  • Minimum Graduation in any discipline, with strong analytical and MS Office application skills
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Aviation/Aerospace domain with exposure to Warehouse, Logistics, and/or Distribution Operations
  • Availability to work flexible shift patterns as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability and willingness to support calls during off-hours when emergency situations arise.
  • Must be physically fit to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP system, specifically the Materials Module would be a valuable skill. Ability to demonstrate required knowledge of the ERP to ensure compliance with company materials processes and maintain inventory accuracy.
