Job Description
HIRING: MATERIALS & INVENTORY CONTROLLER – CONSTRUCTION
We are looking for a hands-on Materials & Inventory Controller with a Civil Engineering background and strong construction industry experience. The role involves controlling construction materials across stores and project sites, maintaining accurate inventory in the ERP/system, monitoring consumption, and ensuring proper receipt, storage, issue and reconciliation of materials.

Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering (Mandatory)
Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in construction materials, stores and inventory control
Job Purpose
The candidate must be a ground-level, field-oriented person with excellent practical knowledge of construction materials, and the ability to physically identify, inspect and verify materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control inventory of all construction materials, tools, equipment and consumables across warehouses and project sites
- Ensure accurate recording of material receipts, issues, transfers, returns and consumption in the ERP/inventory system
- Physically verify incoming materials against POs, delivery notes, specifications and quantities
- Maintain proper material coding, descriptions, units of measurement and classification in the system
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile against system inventory
- Investigate and report stock shortages, excess quantities, discrepancies, damages and abnormal consumption
- Monitor material consumption against project requirements, BOQ and planned quantities, and highlight significant variances
- Coordinate material transfers between the central warehouse and construction sites
- Ensure proper storage, identification and preservation of materials to minimize damage, deterioration, wastage and loss
- Maintain proper documentation for all material movements and ensure timely system entries
- Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Procurement, Storekeepers, Finance and Cost Control teams
- Supervise and guide storekeepers to ensure inventory procedures are followed
- Prepare regular inventory, consumption and reconciliation reports for management
- Carry out frequent site/store visits to ensure physical stock matches system stock
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Mandatory)
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in a construction company, preferably handling materials/inventory for multiple projects
- Strong practical knowledge of construction materials: cement, reinforcement steel, structural steel, aggregates, blocks, formwork, scaffolding, tiles, sanitary, plumbing, electrical and MEP materials, tools and consumables
- Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is an advantage
- Good knowledge of Excel and inventory reporting
- Strong analytical skills with attention to quantity, measurement, wastage and material consumption
- Willing to work hands-on at warehouses and construction sites, not only office-based inventory control
