Port & Operational Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise loadout, securing, and departure activities for project cargo on deck carriers / heavylift vessels.
  • Chair prejob meetings and toolbox talks; confirm PPE, permits, lifting plans, weather windows, and berth readiness.
  • Verify vessel readiness (stability, ballast plans, deck condition, lashing gear availability, cargo gear certification).
  • Direct onsite activities involving stevedores, riggers, surveyors, and vendors to meet schedule and safety targets.
  • Oversee ballasting/deballasting sequences during loadout to maintain stability and trim within approved limits

Technical Documentation Review

  • Review and endorse stowage plans, cargo arrangements, lifting plans, grillage & sea-fastening drawings, and loadspreading calculations.
  • Validate method statements, JSA/RA, mooring plans, and seapassage securing in compliance with Class/Flag, MWS, and client specs.
  • Check cargo data (COG, weight, dimensions, lifting points) and reconcile with asreceived documentation and survey reports.
  • Coordinate and close out comments with Engineering, Class, MWS, and clients before operations commence.

Compliance, Quality & HSE

  • Lead incident/nearmiss reporting, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all lifting/securing gear, certifications, and WLL/SWL markings are valid and traceable.

Stakeholder & Client Interface

  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for clients, marine warranty surveyors, port authorities, and pilots.
  • Provide clear progress updates, manage change requests, and align expectations on schedule and scope.
  • Support postoperation debriefs and capture lessons learned for future projects.

Project Control & Reporting

  • Prepare daily progress logs, deck maps/asstowed drawings, photographic records, and loadout completion reports.
  • Monitor critical path activities, highlight risks, and recommend mitigation/recovery plans.
  • Verify vendor invoices/time sheets related to stevedoring, cranes, tugs, and port services.

Operational Optimization

  • Support continual improvement by identifying operational bottlenecks and proposing process enhancements.
  • Coordinate with commercial and technical teams on lessons learned and improvements for future projects.

Job Profile (Internal)

Qualifications, Experience And Skills

Minimum Experience & Qualifications:

  • 510 years in heavylift / project cargo as Port Captain/Supercargo/ Cargo Supervisor
  • Proven track record supervising loadout and seafastening on deck carriers, MPPs, barges, or semisubs.
  • Strong knowledge of stability, lashing/securing standards (e.g., CSS Code), lifting operations, and port regulations.

Job-Specific Skills

  • Excellent leadership at the berth/yard with calm, decisive decisionmaking under time pressure.
  • Strong technical literacy: can challenge/validate stowage, ballast, lashing, and lifting assumptions.
  • Clear communicator with clients, authorities, and multicultural site teams.
  • Organized and detailoriented in documentation control and reporting.
  • IT proficiency: MS Office, PDF markup; familiarity with stability/stowage software an advantage.
  • Onsite presence at ports/shipyards; shift work and weekends as operations require.
  • Travel to project ports regionally/internationally on short notice.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and highactivity environments.
