Mechanical Drafter

Drawing Production

o Produce general arrangement, fabrication, assembly and detail drawings from design inputs and sketches.

o Model components and assemblies in CAD and generate drawings from the model.

o Prepare cutting lists, nesting layouts, weld details and part marking.

Drawing Standards & Accuracy

o Apply drawing standards, symbols, tolerancing, scales and title block conventions.

o Check dimensional consistency, interference and completeness before submission.

o Correct drawings following check-back comments from engineers.

Revision & Document Control

o Maintain drawing registers, revision history, issue records and distribution.

o Implement approved engineering changes and reissue affected drawings.

o Archive superseded drawings and prevent use of obsolete revisions.

Bill of Material Support

o Generate and update bills of material and part lists from CAD models.

o Verify part numbering, material specifications and quantities.

o Coordinate with Material Control on new part code creation.

Shop Floor Support

o Respond to shop floor queries on drawing interpretation and detail.

o Prepare as-built and modification drawings where required.

o Support standardization of details and reusable drawing templates.

Qualification & Education:

Education: Technical diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Droughting.

Years of Experience: 2–3 years of experience in mechanical droughting or detailing in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

Technical competencies:

• AutoCAD and 3D CAD modelling and drawing generation.

• Drawing standards, projection, sectioning and geometric tolerancing.

• Welding symbols, fabrication details and sheet metal development.

• Bill of material and part list generation.

• Drawing revision and document control practice.

Interpersonal Competencies:

• Precision and attention to detail.

• Discipline in following standards and revisions.

• Responsiveness to engineer and shop floor requests.

• Reliability in meeting drawing deadlines.

• Teamwork within the design office.
