Responsibilities:

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Mechanical Engineer (Design Review), seconded to our Client from government sector in Doha, Qatar.

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer who will provide mechanical design review, technical assurance, and construction support for water infrastructure and pumping station projects.

We envisage success in this role to include;

  • Conducting site investigations and reviewing preliminary engineering studies for water infrastructure projects.
  • Reviewing, verifying, and approving mechanical designs, calculations, and drawings submitted by contractors and consultants.
  • Ensuring compliance of mechanical designs with project specifications, international standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Participating in preparation of tender documents, technical specifications, BOQs, and tender evaluations.
  • Reviewing mechanical shop drawings and technical submittals for pumps, pipelines, valves, compressors, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Reviewing and recommending approval of material submittals and equipment datasheets.
  • Reviewing hydraulic calculations and surge analysis studies submitted by contractors.
  • Supporting project management activities related to mechanical scope, including design coordination and technical clarifications.
  • Reviewing method statements, installation procedures, FAT/SAT, and commissioning plans.
  • Providing technical support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Reviewing technical inputs for variation orders and providing engineering recommendations.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum of 15 years work experience in water infrastructure projects partnered with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Strong experience in mechanical design review, technical review, or engineering supervision.
  • Proven exposure to pipelines, pumping stations, and potable water systems.
  • Experience supporting tender processes and construction phases.

Key Technical Knowledge:

  • Mechanical systems for water and pumping station projects.
  • Review of drawings and technical submissions (P&IDs, layouts, shop drawings).
  • Pumps, pipelines, valves, and associated electromechanical equipment.
  • Understanding of control philosophy and interfaces with control systems.
  • Hydraulic and surge analysis review.
  • FAT, SAT, ITPs, and commissioning procedures.
