Summary of the role:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for planning and designing mechanical systems and models; working on engineering calculations, and proposals for architectural projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, design and coordinate building mechanical systems such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable design codes, authority regulations, project requirements, and company standards.
  • Collaborate with architects to integrate mechanical systems without compromising aesthetic or structural aspects of the building.
  • Coordinate with architectural, Electrical, structural, and other engineering disciplines to ensure electrical designs are fully aligned and properly integrated across all building systems
  • Plan mechanical equipment rooms and vertical transportation systems in collaboration with engineering disciplines.
  • Integrate smart systems for efficient control of HVAC, lighting, and security to enhance comfort, energy efficiency, and operational.
  • Prepare coordinated mechanical design layouts and BIM models (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems) using Revit and AutoCAD, in accordance with project and company BIM standards.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines and resources effectively.
  • Participate in value engineering exercises and propose technically sound and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Prepare technical specifications and support quantity take-offs and BOQs.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends, materials and technology in the industry to keep our projects at the forefront of innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. (Master's Degree is preferred).
  • 10+ years of professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Architectural system projects.
  • Preferably Registered Professional or member of professional engineering society, such as Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) or Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP).
  • Demonstrable portfolio with a strong experience in delivering high-end projects.
  • Experience with GCC projects
  • Experience preparing authority submissions for KSA or UAE.
  • BIM workflow experience using Revit MEP

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert-level proficiency in Revit is required (minimum 5 years of experience using Revit on built projects).
  • Good familiarity with BIM coordination workflows.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and sustainability principles, such as ASHRAE &NFPA.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Creative mindset with ability to think innovatively and execute complete design concepts.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills.
  • Excellent English Language.

Working conditions and Environment:

  • The position is office-based in New Cairo, Egypt.
  • The position has minimal international business travel requirements.
