MECHANICAL ENGINEER (MARINE)
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and execute servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair projects for marine equipment on LNG/LPG vessels.
- Perform inspection, dismantling, overhaul, calibration, testing, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
- Service and maintain control valves, safety relief valves, actuators, pumps, compressors, pressure regulators, and instrumentation systems.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and recommend effective repair solutions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&ID diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
- Prepare service reports, inspection reports, calibration certificates, delivery orders, and technical documentation accurately.
- Coordinate with customers, shipyards, vessel engineers, and project teams to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
- Plan and monitor service schedules, shutdown maintenance, and project timelines.
- Ensure all servicing work complies with customer requirements, classification society standards, and company procedures.
- Perform pressure testing, leak testing, functional testing, and performance verification of mechanical equipment.
- Supervise technicians and provide technical guidance during servicing and overhaul activities.
- Maintain proper records of spare parts, tools, consumables, and service history.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of workshop equipment and testing instruments.
- Support emergency breakdown services and attend urgent vessel repair jobs when required.
- Participate in equipment commissioning and sea trials when assigned.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely in accordance with company safety policies and marine regulations.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the workshop and onboard vessels.
- Prepare quotations, technical recommendations, and maintenance reports when required.
- Attend customer meetings and provide technical advice regarding maintenance and repair solutions.
- Travel to shipyards, ports, offshore locations, and regional countries for project assignments.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in the marine, offshore, oil & gas, or industrial engineering industry.
- Hands-on experience servicing valves, safety relief valves, control valves, pumps, compressors, actuators, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.
- Experience with instrumentation, automation systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical repair techniques.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, P&ID diagrams, GA drawings, and technical manuals.
- Familiar with marine standards, class requirements, and safety procedures.
- Good understanding of workshop practices and onboard vessel maintenance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
- Able to supervise technicians and coordinate with customers professionally.
- Physically fit and willing to work onboard vessels, shipyards, and offshore environments.
- Willing to travel frequently within Singapore and overseas for service assignments.
- Able to work overtime, weekends, public holidays, and respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
- Possess a positive attitude, strong work ethics, and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems and Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) practices is an added advantage.
- Singapore marine industry experience is preferred but not mandatory
