Role Description

SQUARE Engineering Firm is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Senior Engineer for a full-time, on-site position in Cairo, Egypt. The role involves overseeing the design and development of mechanical systems, performing machine design, and utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) tools. Responsibilities include leading research and development (R&D) projects, managing engineering aspects of projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality outcomes within established deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and extract detailed shop drawings for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and infrastructure systems from 3D BIM models.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with other trades to ensure conflict-free integration.
  • Review IFC drawings, specifications, and BOQ to verify completeness and identify discrepancies.
  • Raise RFIs and RFPs for any conflicts or missing data to ensure accurate design interpretation.
  • Analyze and assist in resolving clashes between mechanical and other systems using coordination tools.
  • Supervise and guide junior engineers to ensure consistent quality of shop drawings.
  • Prepare and review design reviews, work packages, and comparisons between IFT and IFC drawings.
  • Support the Team Leader in achieving project milestones related to shop drawing submissions.
  • Contribute to periodic technical and coordination reports as required.
  • Prepare and submit required mechanical and calculation for approval.
  • Apply all BIM requirements during modeling.

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum 5:7 years of relevant Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and infrastructure systems.
  • Familiar with coordination procedures between MEP and Structural/Architectural elements.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Solid experience in preparing and reviewing mechanical and infrastructure shop drawings.
  • Proficient in BIM tools (Revit MEP, Navisworks) and AutoCAD, with strong coordination practices.
  • Knowledge of international standards and mechanical design principles.
  • Skilled in preparing RFIs, design comparisons, and coordination reports.
