Job Description

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Procurement QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical equipment, materials, and components procured from vendors comply with project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. The role focuses on vendor quality assurance and inspection throughout the procurement cycle from technical review to final dispatch to ensure timely and defect-free delivery to site.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve Vendor Quality Control Plans (QCPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), FAT procedures, and related QA documentation.
  • Conduct or coordinate vendor inspections, stage inspections, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for mechanical equipment and packages.
  • Verify compliance of rotating and static equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, valves, piping materials, etc.) with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Review material test certificates (MTCs), dimensional inspection reports, and NDE reports submitted by suppliers.
  • Monitor vendor fabrication processes, welding, NDT, and assembly as per ASME, API, and project standards.
  • Issue and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, expediting, and logistics to ensure inspection and release schedules are met.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, release notes, and QA/QC dossiers for client review.
  • Support vendor qualification audits and maintain vendor performance evaluation records.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 510 years of experience in Procurement Quality / Vendor Inspection within EPC, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME, API, ASTM, and ISO standards related to mechanical fabrication and inspection.
  • Experience in inspection of pressure equipment, static/rotating machinery, valves, and piping systems.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and QA documentation requirements.
  • Excellent coordination, reporting, and vendor management skills.
