Job Description

The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering all mechanical aspects of new store openings, renovations, and capital projects across Spinneys Egypt. The role ensures that all mechanical systems—including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, fire protection, LPG, and ventilation—are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with company standards, applicable regulations, project timelines, and approved budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Planning & Management Plan,
  • manage, and oversee mechanical works for new store openings, renovations, and refurbishment projects.
  • Develop detailed project schedules and monitor progress against approved timelines.
  • Coordinate project activities with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
  • Mechanical Systems.
  • Manage the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems.
  • Supervise refrigeration systems for cold rooms, freezers, and display cabinets.
  • Oversee plumbing and drainage systems.
  • Manage firefighting and fire protection systems.
  • Supervise LPG and gas piping installations where applicable.
  • Ensure ventilation and exhaust systems comply with operational requirements.
  • Contractor Management
  • Evaluate contractor performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Review contractor progress and approve completed work.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues during project execution.
  • Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all installations comply with Spinneys Engineering Standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications and approved drawings.
  • Ensure all testing and commissioning activities are completed successfully.
  • Review snag lists and ensure timely close-out of outstanding issues.
  • Budget & Cost Control
  • Monitor project budgets and control project costs.
  • Review mechanical BOQs and technical specifications.
  • Evaluate variation orders and cost implications. Support procurement in technical evaluations of suppliers and contractors.
  • Optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and company safety standards.
  • Verify adherence to local building codes and engineering regulations.
  • Promote safe work practices across all project sites.
  • Ensure contractors maintain required safety documentation.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare project progress reports.
  • Maintain project documentation and records.
  • Review shop drawings and technical submittals.
  • Monitor project KPIs and report performance to management.
  • Prepare project close-out documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, QA, IT, and Store Opening teams.
  • Support handover activities for new branches.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7–10 years of experience in mechanical project management.
  • Minimum 3 years managing retail, supermarket, commercial, or hospitality projects.
  • Experience in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and firefighting systems .
  • Experience in new store openings is highly preferred.
