Job Description

James L Williams Middle East is seeking a motivated and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Projects team and support the successful delivery of complex Data Centre projects across the UAE.

This role is responsible for coordinating mechanical engineering and site execution activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, project schedules, and client requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage mechanical engineering and site execution activities in accordance with contract drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Assist the Project Manager in delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Review technical submittals, material submittals, shop drawings, and supplier documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and authority requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with the Engineering Department, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and site teams to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
  • Prepare and implement method statements, quality procedures, and technical documentation required for project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure materials, equipment, and resources are available to maintain construction schedules.
  • Review consultant comments and coordinate timely resubmissions of technical documents and shop drawings.
  • Participate in client, consultant, contractor, and authority meetings as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements, quality standards, and applicable local authority regulations.
  • Manage RFIs, technical clarifications, and engineering changes while assessing their impact on project cost and schedule.
  • Coordinate with planning, procurement, QA/QC, and construction teams to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Support variation management, change control processes, and project reporting activities.
  • Supervise and guide Site Engineers and Supervisors to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in MEP and construction projects.
  • Experience working on Mission Critical, Commercial, or Large-Scale Data Centre projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems installation, engineering coordination, testing & commissioning support, and project execution.
  • Proven experience in reviewing technical submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, and material approvals.
  • Good understanding of applicable construction standards, authority regulations, and project specifications.
  • Strong planning, coordination, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team coordination abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
