Job Description

The Mechanical Technical BIM Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of mechanical draftsmen and technical engineers, ensuring the preparation, review, and approval of mechanical shop drawings, BIM models, technical submittals, and design calculations. The role ensures full compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards (such as QCS 2014, NFPA, and local authority regulations), and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, plan, and allocate tasks to mechanical BIM/drafting teams.
  • Review and approve mechanical shop drawings, BIM outputs, design calculations, material submittals, and method statements before submission.
  • Ensure coordination of mechanical works with architectural, structural, and other disciplines.
  • Maintain drawing and submittal schedules, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, company procedures, HSE requirements, and local authority regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and project management to ensure satisfaction and smooth approvals.
  • Support HSE initiatives and contribute to safety awareness and incident resolution.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong technical background in Mechanical Engineering and BIM coordination.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, NFPA, and local regulations.
  • Experience in construction projects and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Ability to prepare and manage technical tracking schedules.
  • UPDA certification (or equivalent, attested) preferred.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum 8 years total experience, with at least 5 years in a relevant role (GCC experience is a plus).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
