Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Tender & Procurement Engineer to handle mechanical tendering, cost estimation, and procurement activities for construction projects. The role focuses on preparing competitive tenders, sourcing mechanical materials and subcontractors, and ensuring timely procurement in compliance with project specifications, budgets, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Tendering & Cost Estimation

  • Prepare mechanical tenders, BOQs, and cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Review mechanical scope including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, and gas systems.
  • Analyze tender risks and propose value engineering and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Coordinate with technical office, design, and site teams for accurate pricing.

Procurement & Purchasing

  • Manage procurement of mechanical materials, equipment, and subcontract works.
  • Issue RFQs, evaluate technical and commercial offers, and prepare comparison sheets.
  • Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and payment terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and follow up on purchase orders in line with project requirements.

Supplier & Subcontractor Management

  • Source, evaluate, and maintain approved mechanical suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensure materials and equipment comply with approved specifications, standards, and submittals.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve procurement issues.

Cost Control & Documentation

  • Monitor procurement costs against approved budgets.
  • Maintain procurement logs, contracts, and supplier documentation.
  • Support variation pricing, claims, and value engineering proposals.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with site teams to ensure material availability as per project schedule.
  • Prepare procurement status reports and cost summaries for management.
  • Support project execution with technical procurement input.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

  • 46 years of experience in mechanical tendering and procurement within construction or MEP companies.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, pumps, chillers).
  • Excellent understanding of BOQs, drawings, specifications, and material submittals.
  • Familiarity with contract conditions and procurement procedures.
  • Proficient in Excel, AutoCAD (for drawing review), and ERP/procurement systems.
  • Experience with estimation software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale or fast-track projects.
  • Knowledge of local and international mechanical suppliers.
  • Experience in value engineering and cost optimization.
