As part of our Medical Affairs team, you will play a critical role in advancing scientific knowledge, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and building trusted relationships with healthcare stakeholders across the GCC region.

Role Summary

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you serve as the scientific expert within assigned therapeutic areas, building credible peer-to-peer relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), and other healthcare stakeholders across the GCC region.

In this field-based role, you independently exchange scientific and clinical information, generate actionable medical insights, support evidence generation initiatives, and contribute to the development and execution of local medical strategies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, ethical standards, and company policies.

This role requires extensive stakeholder engagement across the region and regular participation in scientific meetings, congresses, advisory boards, and educational activities.

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Scientific Engagement

  • Establish and maintain scientifically credible relationships with KEEs, HCPs, and relevant healthcare stakeholders through compliant, non-promotional scientific exchange.
  • Deliver balanced, evidence-based scientific and clinical information aligned with approved medical strategies.
  • Provide expert interpretation of clinical data, treatment guidelines, and emerging scientific developments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and communicate actionable medical insights to support strategic decision-making and future medical initiatives.
  • Monitor therapeutic-area developments, competitor activities, clinical advancements, and scientific trends to inform medical planning and execution.

Medical Evidence Generation & Research Support

  • Identify evidence gaps and contribute to the development of research strategies, real-world evidence (RWE) initiatives, and approved scientific projects.
  • Support investigator-initiated studies (IIS/IITs) in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Critically evaluate scientific literature and emerging clinical evidence to support medical and business objectives.
  • Lead assigned components of research-related activities and coordinate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance scientific quality, operational efficiency, and medical effectiveness.

Medical Education & Scientific Communication

  • Develop and deliver high-quality scientific presentations and educational programs for both internal and external audiences.
  • Support the planning and execution of medical education activities through face-to-face, digital, and omnichannel engagement channels.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at congresses, advisory boards, scientific meetings, and professional healthcare events.
  • Communicate congress highlights, emerging evidence, and scientific developments, emphasizing clinical relevance and practical application.
  • Provide therapeutic-area education, disease-state expertise, and scientific training to internal stakeholders as required.

Medical Strategy & Insights Generation

  • Gather, analyze, and communicate field medical insights to support medical strategy and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Identify unmet medical needs, treatment challenges, and opportunities to enhance patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of local medical plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide scientific recommendations to support product lifecycle management and future medical opportunities.

Cross-Functional Medical Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Compliance, Pharmacovigilance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Provide scientific input to customer engagement strategies, launch planning, and medical initiatives.
  • Support business decisions through evidence-based clinical insights and scientific expertise.
  • Contribute to projects requiring advanced therapeutic-area knowledge and scientific leadership.
  • Act as a trusted scientific resource and provide guidance to colleagues and stakeholders when appropriate.

Medical Governance & Compliance Excellence

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with local regulations, industry codes, company policies, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of scientific engagements, medical insights, and relevant activities.
  • Ensure timely reporting and escalation of adverse events, product complaints, and medical information requests.
  • Provide scientific review and input for medical and promotional materials where required.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve Medical Affairs processes, operational excellence, and ways of working.

Qualifications

Education

  • University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related healthcare discipline is required.
  • Advanced qualifications or certifications in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, or related scientific disciplines are advantageous.
  • Medical degree, PharmD, PhD, or Master's degree is considered a strong advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison, Medical Advisor, Clinical Research professional, or a comparable scientific role is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging healthcare professionals and external experts through scientific exchange.
  • Experience independently managing medical initiatives, projects, or defined workstreams is preferred.
  • Experience supporting evidence-generation activities, research projects, or investigator-sponsored studies is advantageous.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong therapeutic-area expertise with a commitment to continuous scientific learning and professional development.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical research methodologies, study design, and evidence-generation principles.
  • Excellent ability to critically evaluate, interpret, and communicate complex scientific and clinical information.
  • Strong scientific presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with KEEs, HCPs, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven capability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in digital engagement platforms, scientific literature evaluation, data interpretation, and business applications.
  • High level of personal accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional regional languages are an advantage.
