Job Description

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

The project:

Mace is supporting the delivery of a large‑scale, next‑generation digital infrastructure programme in the region, working alongside a leading developer in the data centre sector. The project brings together complex design coordination, fast‑paced delivery and rigorous governance to meet the demands of a mission‑critical environment. Our team is applying global best practice in programme, project and commercial management to help shape resilient, future‑ready infrastructure at scale.

We are seeking an experienced MEP Design Manager to join a major, technically complex development as it transitions into the delivery phase. Working as part of an integrated PMC team, this role will lead and manage the delivery of MEP design, ensuring full coordination, technical compliance, and readiness for construction.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of MEP design throughout all project stages, from detailed design through to construction support.

  • Act as the primary interface between design consultants, contractors, and the PMC team for all MEP design-related matters.

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of MEP design deliverables, ensuring alignment with project requirements, codes, and standards.

  • Drive multidisciplinary coordination, resolving design interfaces between MEP, architectural, structural, and specialist systems.

  • Ensure design outputs are fully coordinated, buildable, and aligned with programme milestones as the project moves into delivery.

  • Provide technical leadership across all MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, ELV, and specialist infrastructure.

  • Identify design risks and lead mitigation strategies to avoid impact on programme, cost, and constructability.

  • Support value engineering initiatives to optimise design efficiency without compromising performance or quality.

  • Collaborate closely with construction and commissioning teams, providing technical support and resolving design-related queries during delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability principles within the design process.

  • Contribute to project reporting, including design progress, risks, and key technical issues for senior stakeholders.

You'll need to have:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience operating at MEP Design Manager level within PMC/consultancy environments on large-scale developments.

  • Proven track record managing MEP design on complex, MEP-intensive or mission-critical projects.

  • Strong technical expertise across a broad range of MEP systems, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Experience managing the transition from design into construction/delivery phases.

  • Strong knowledge of international design standards and codes, with Middle East experience highly desirable.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive outcomes.

  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability principles.
