MEP Design Manager (Data Centres) Dubai, UAE

An expanding international M&E consultancy with a strong track record in low-energy design is seeking an MEP Design Manager to support the delivery of high-quality design solutions across a range of data centre and major building projects.

Role Responsibilities

  • Utilise design-management delivery tools to monitor and control project coordination, including reporting inputs/outputs for project progress tracking.
  • Support senior team members with delegated tasks as part of project delivery, including preparation of reports, action trackers, and multi-discipline coordination.
  • Lead data manipulation across Architecture, MEP, C&S, and supporting project functions.
  • Manage design interfaces between various disciplines and subconsultants.
  • Prepare design programmes aligned with overall project timelines and permitting requirements.
  • Conduct independent research to support project delivery.
  • Liaise with contractors, clients, and internal/external consultants regarding project progress and requirements.
  • Ensure document-control standards are met, including correct drawing titles, formatting, and sequencing.
  • Coordinate teams to deliver well-prepared face-to-face page-turn presentations.
  • Manage virtual design teams operating across multiple time zones.
  • Quickly understand client processes and develop appropriate supporting tools.

Role Requirements

  • BSc/BEng (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline (desirable).
  • Progress towards MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE/APM PMQ/MCIOB/Prince2 or equivalent professional membership.
  • Working towards Chartered status (desirable).
  • Background in architecture, engineering, project management consulting, or construction.
  • Proven experience delivering multi-discipline complex projects in the UAE/GCC.
  • Strong knowledge of building permit requirements in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
  • Experience in design management and engineering, ideally including data centres, large mixed-use projects, or critical facilities.
  • Understanding of disciplinary interactions within building/data-centre projects (architecture, structures, civils, MEP, fire, electrical, ICT, sustainability, permitting, etc.).
  • Knowledge of design-management principles, project-management processes, and reporting methodologies.
  • Experience preparing presentations, bids, or submission materials.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive with strong career progression ambitions.
  • Strong understanding of the design process and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and operate independently or within a team.
  • Understanding of UAE, UK, and European standards and codes.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of Microsoft Project, with an interest in becoming proficient.
  • Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet tools.
  • Adaptable and proactive approach to engineering tasks.
  • Ability to work in highly collaborative environments and engage with expert clients daily.
  • Strong chairing/facilitation skills and ability to record key meeting actions.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Appreciation for diverse cultures and working styles.
  • Ability to support project delivery across project management, financial management, QA/QC, and technical review.
  • Understanding of business goals, QA processes, and global consultancy operations.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation.
