MEP Manager / Lead
Overall Responsibility for all site MEP technical and engineering aspects of their assigned project in conjunction with subordinate discipline Project Engineers and BIM / Design Team leads . This includes engineering review of handover from the Tender Team, planning, executing and management of all the technical tasks to assure accuracy, proper resources, and quality from start to finish of the assigned project .
MEP Managers are the primary link between Engineering site team and BIM / Design team to the Project Manager; Construction Managers and Client Engineering Team Leads
Responsibilities
- Direct line of report Project Manager during execution / Pre-Construction Manager during tender
- Assist the Pre- Construction Manager and Estimating Team to ensure robust tendering.
- Critique tender documentation / Pre-Construction project handover documentation, identify project risks and constructability studies with BIM Team.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure all engineering parameters, calculations, etc. are in line with project requirements and local and mandatory codes.
- Overall Management and coordination of RIBA stage drawings (if design and build), discipline shop drawings and as built drawings process to Code A status (in coordination with BIM Lead and MEP Discipline Engineers)
- Prepare design / engineering programme in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Controls Engineer, Client Consultants and Specialist contractors in line with overall project delivery schedule.
- Provide day-to-day links with client consultants and engineering discipline team.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive Project Engineering Plan, in keeping with the size and complexity as mutually agreed upon by the JEG organization SOP and the Project Manager.
- Preparation of sub-contractor Scope of Works documentation in coordination with Project Manager to ensure all scope is captured including detailed attendances to mitigate risk of scope gaps in agreements.
- Establish Project client consultant and overall engineering deliverable requirements.
- Day to day management of the Discipline Project Engineers.
- Ensure all construction design / execution issues are addressed in coordination with the discipline project engineers and site stakeholders.
- Provide input to Project Change Management process via QS and Project Manager
- Provide input to the Risks and Opportunities Register.
- Manage, Review / prepare engineering studies as applicable and coordinate / review third-party studies as applicable.
- Manage coordination with BIM Team, discipline engineers and validation of material take-offs for all disciplines.
- Manage coordination with Construction Team and validate material take-off top-ups for all disciplines with subordinate Project Engineers and BIM Lead.
- Manage coordination via Discipline Engineers of all specialist plant suppliers and specialist systems suppliers to ensure suitable interfaces are achieved e.g., specification design compliance (providing design input as required), correct supplies to equipment and third-party interface, BMS, etc.
- Oversee coordination of all MEP services via Construction and BIM Lead for clash mitigation.
- Manage, liaise and coordinate the builders work requirements with Construction Managers / BIM Team.
- Management and coordinate preparation of engineering and material submittals with subordinate Discipline Engineers to Code A status.
- Assist, verification and inspection of systems in line with approved submittals and design (assistance to QA/QC, Construction and Commissioning via discipline leads)
- Provide technical support in coordination with subordinate Discipline Engineers to Construction Managers as required to ensure the installation meets the design, including regular site work front inspections with construction leads as required.
- Study the project specifications in detail and be aware of the scope of work. Be able to identify variations and officially track through the RFI process.
- Manage preparation, coordination of MR's / RFQs for the Procurement department to issue to vendors as pertaining to engineered equipment.
- Arrange and attend weekly meetings as required and arrange Minutes of meetings for records.
- Coordinate with Project Controls Engineer for weekly Progress Report development
- Liaise with the commercial team in providing technical information and back-up on variations.
- Monitor progress and status of RFI's and document control in coordination with Project Controls Lead.
- Management of red-line drawings and As-built drawings in coordination with BIM Lead, Construction teams and QA/QC teams.
- Management of the MEP systems O&Ms to Code A status
- Management and coordination with Commissioning team for client training requirements.
- Escalate to Project Manager any engineering issues arising that may affect project schedule or project execution plans.
- Supervise, develop and mentor project staff.
- Ensuring that the HSE requirements are observed in the execution of all engineering activities.
- Provide regular input to the continuous improvement log (lessons learned), implementing changes where deficiencies are identified and corrective actions proposed.
- Ensure awareness and compliance of the QSP's which are located and maintained in the JEG Group Quality Library.

Experience And Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years work experience on construction projects.
- Qualifications commensurate with position:
- Role applicable degree from a reputed university
- Experience in Data Centre Projects.
- Experience in managing assigned discipline engineers.
- Professional membership to accredited organization an advantage.
- Competent in the use of PC applications (Microsoft Office suit or equivalent).
