We are looking for an experienced MEP Planning Engineer to support the planning, scheduling, monitoring and coordination of MEP activities across our construction projects.
Job Summary
The MEP Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed MEP project schedules, monitoring progress against planned targets, identifying delays and supporting project teams in achieving timely project completion. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in MEP construction planning within the UAE/GCC.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update detailed MEP project schedules in line with overall project requirements.
- Prepare baseline programmes, recovery programmes, look-ahead schedules and detailed MEP execution plans.
- Coordinate with MEP, Civil, Architectural, Procurement, QA/QC and Project Management teams to align project activities.
- Monitor actual progress against planned progress and identify delays, critical activities and potential risks.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards and planning updates for management.
- Track MEP activities including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm and ELV systems.
- Develop and monitor MEP procurement and material delivery schedules.
- Coordinate planned activities with site teams to ensure availability of manpower, materials, drawings and resources.
- Prepare and monitor 2-week/3-week/4-week look-ahead programmes.
- Analyse project delays and support the preparation of recovery and mitigation plans.
- Monitor critical path activities and highlight potential impact on project completion dates.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and specialist contractors to obtain accurate progress updates.
- Review subcontractor programmes and ensure alignment with the overall project programme.
- Track engineering, material approvals, inspections, testing and commissioning activities.
- Support project teams in identifying constraints and developing action plans for timely resolution.
- Prepare progress measurement and assist with Earned Value/quantitative progress tracking, where required.
- Maintain planning records, schedules, progress data and relevant project documentation.
- Participate in progress meetings and provide planning inputs to Project Managers and senior management.
- Ensure planning activities are aligned with project milestones, contractual requirements and approved schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in MEP planning.
- Minimum 4 years of UAE/GCC experience in MEP construction.
- Strong experience in planning for HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm and ELV works.
- Proven experience working on large-scale residential, commercial, high-rise or mixed-use projects.
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS Project and other planning/reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, MEP coordination and project schedules.
- Experience preparing baseline programmes, look-ahead schedules, recovery programmes and progress reports.
- Strong knowledge of critical path analysis, delay analysis and progress measurement.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, construction teams, consultants and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Valid UAE Driving Licence is preferred/required, depending on project requirements.
- Candidates currently available in the UAE are preferred.
