Advanced Materials Research Centre

New materials could enable major new breakthroughs in performance and capability from transportation to sustainability and renewable energy.

In our Advanced Materials Centre, we see future opportunities in:

  • Nanomaterials
  • Self-healing materials
  • Smart materials and structures
  • Energy-absorbing materials and structures
  • Additive manufacturing / 3D printing
  • High temperature thermoplastic composites
  • Energy storage
  • Simulation

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To conduct research related to nanomaterials team topics, the main topics are related to nanomaterials synthesis and surface functionalization as well as products development.
  • To characterize different materials and to prepare reports analyzing the results obtained.
  • Literature review to propose new methods to conduct the R&D
  • Communicate results to the scientific and commercial community via published journal papers and presentations.
  • To provide support to the rest of the team and sharing expertise

Person Specification

  • A Master degree holder in material science, engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience (after Master graduation), preferably in the applied research sector or relevant industries.
  • Proficiency in surface functionalization and synthesizing nanomaterials, with a focus on preparation or development of polymer nanocomposites.
  • Multi-disciplinary background in materials science
  • To have experience developing new products from research to the industry.
  • A proven track-record of delivering projects of an innovative or R&D nature.
  • Strong self-motivation, proactive, independent working ability while also contributing effectively within a team.
  • Ability to propose and execute work plans effectively.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset.
