Job Purpose:
To lead, control and direct the activities of Parts Department Heads and NPD staff in a manner that maximizes sales, profit, market share, customer satisfaction and employees morale.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct Department Managers in a manner that ensure attainment of monthly and annual Department budget objectives (sales, operating expenses, and net profit).
- Recommend marketing and operating strategies that maximize the business results and image of the Company in the short and long term, particularly in relation to Parts Operation, but also in relation to other departments. Ensure that such strategies are effectively and consistently executed throughout Company Parts operations at all levels.
- Recommend effective operating policies, procedures and systems within the Department and ensure the consistent implementation of same when approved by Aftersales Director.
- Supervise, direct, discipline and evaluate Parts Managers and direct report staff. Recommend new staff hires, de-hires and redundancies to the Aftersales Director as appropriate to accomplish the needed work of the Department.
- Understand company policies and procedures and ensure that such policies and procedures are carried out within the Department in the manner and spirit intended.
- Monitor Parts efficiencies to ensure systems, procedures, and trained staff are in place to provide targeted parts order fill with a minimum of parts obsolescence.
- Monitor parts operations to determine the effectiveness of existing policy, procedures and systems and recommend changes to bring about continuous improvement for the benefit of the Company, its customers, and employees.
- Monitor customer satisfaction and implement appropriate solutions and/or improvements to reduce or eliminate their recurrence.
- Approve cash expenditures incurred by Department Heads.
- Prepare prescribed weekly and monthly reports to the Aftersales Director in a timely manner, including exceptions to policy which have taken place, and other information requested in formal directives current at the time.
- Prepare annual Parts National Budgets and submit for approval as requested.
- Oversee the development of stockiest and dealers in line with the distribution strategy of the Company at the time, and ensure effective programs in line with approved company policy.
- Maintain regular communications and develop strong business relationships with FCA Parts contacts and other external companies to maximize benefits for the department.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Aftersales Director, inform and consult openly with AFD in the performance of duties, and cooperate with other department managers and staff in achieving the Company's overall objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in automotive parts operations, including 5+ years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in automotive dealership parts operations and inventory management.
- Strong knowledge of parts inventory, demand planning, budgeting, P&L, and dealer network management.
- Experience with ERP/DMS systems (SAP, Oracle, CDK, Autoline, etc.).
- Strong leadership, people management, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience working with OEMs or authorized automotive dealerships is highly preferred.
