Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to design, build, and own Kudo's native Android trading application.

This is a performance-sensitive financial product involving:

Real-time quote streaming
Interactive charting
Order execution flows
Account management
Payments and withdrawals
Secure authentication and compliance workflows

Kudo is building a high-performance native Android trading app for our traders. The mobile app is a core product and must deliver a fast, stable, and secure trading experience under real-time market conditions.

Your Role:

Native Android Application

Build and maintain a high-performance Android app using Kotlin
Ensure smooth UI responsiveness under real-time streaming conditions
Deliver a polished, production-ready user experience

Real-Time Market Data

Implement WebSocket-based quote streaming
Architect efficient state handling for high-frequency updates
Maintain consistent UI performance during periods of market volatility

Charting & Trading UI

Integrate or build performant charting components (candlestick, indicators, gestures)
Ensure smooth pinch/zoom, pan, and crosshair interactions
Maintain performance targets across supported Android devices

Order Execution

Implement fast, reliable order placement flows
Optimise tap-to-request performance
Handle edge cases around network instability and reconnections

API Integration

Integrate with Kudo's backend APIs
Implement secure authentication flows (OAuth 2/OIDC)
Handle session management and token refresh securely

Security & Compliance

Secure storage using Android Keystore and encrypted storage
Certificate pinning and secure networking
Root detection and runtime integrity protections
Implement security standards appropriate for financial services

Push Notifications

Implement Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for trade confirmations, price alerts, and compliance notifications

UI Framework: Jetpack Compose
Networking: Retrofit / OkHttp, WebSockets
Architecture: MVVM / Clean Architecture (or similar)
Auth: OAuth 2.0 + OIDC
Infrastructure: Azure
CI/CD: Azure DevOps Pipelines

What Makes You A Great Fit:

2+ years experience building native Android applications in Kotlin
Fintech, brokerage, CFD, or trading platform experience
Strong understanding of Android performance optimisation
Experience building real-time or data-intensive mobile applications
Solid understanding of REST APIs and WebSockets
Experience with Google Play Store submission and release cycles
Familiarity with Android security best practices (Android Keystore, certificate pinning, etc.)
Experience profiling apps using Android Studio Profiler and performance tools

Nice to Have

Experience building trading or charting applications
Experience handling high-frequency data updates
Experience with performance-critical UI rendering
Familiarity with financial app compliance requirements
