Job Description

Job Summary


The NDT Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities on the project to ensure inspections are executed efficiently, reported accurately, and fully compliant with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality requirements. The role involves close coordination with construction teams, NDT subcontractors, QA/QC personnel, and project management to control inspection backlogs, resolve non-conformances, and maintain complete and traceable NDT records.


Key Responsibilities


NDT Planning & Coordination



  • Coordinate with construction and welding teams to ensure timely execution of NDT inspections on welds and joints.

  • Plan and schedule NDT activities in line with construction progress and inspection priorities.

  • Coordinate daily activities of NDT subcontractors to ensure availability of qualified personnel and equipment.


Monitoring & Control



  • Monitor NDT execution, reporting status, and approval cycles to avoid inspection backlogs.

  • Track NDT operator performance, repair rates, acceptance ratios, and rework trends.

  • Maintain visibility of pending, completed, and approved NDT activities across all methods.


Quality Assurance & Compliance



  • Ensure NDT activities comply with approved procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and applicable international codes and standards.

  • Assist in investigation and resolution of NDT-related NCRs, non-conformances, and quality issues.

  • Support QA/QC teams during audits, inspections, and client or third-party reviews.


Reporting & Documentation



  • Maintain and update NDT trackers and databases covering all NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT, etc.).

  • Ensure accurate compilation of NDT reports, approvals, and records for project dossiers.

  • Provide regular status updates on NDT progress, backlogs, and critical issues to project management.


Interface & Communication



  • Liaise between NDT teams, subcontractors, construction, QA/QC, and project management to ensure smooth workflow.

  • Support timely closure of inspection activities to meet construction and commissioning schedules.


Required Qualifications & Competencies



  • Engineering Diploma or equivalent technical qualification.

  • Certified Level II in all major NDT methods (Radiography, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, etc.).

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in NDE/NDT activities within the Oil & Gas industry.

  • At least 5 years experience post-certification (ASNT ACCP Level III or CSWIP / PCN Level II).

  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, techniques, and their industrial applicability.

  • Sound understanding of international codes and standards such as ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, and related specifications.

  • Conversant with Oil & Gas HSE requirements, work practices, and quality standards.

  • Proven experience in managing NDT subcontractors and supervising daily NDT operations.

  • Strong leadership, coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
