Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the operations of Network Security Engineer at newly established government organization in Abu Dhabi within educational sector, including designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining secure network infrastructure to protect the academy's digital assets and ensure uninterrupted access to IT services. This role requires expertise in network security technologies, threat management, and compliance standards relevant to the education sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Security Management
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures and firewall policies.
- Monitor network traffic and security events to detect and respond to threats.
- Manage VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security appliances.
- Ensure network configurations and security measures comply with institutional policies and relevant standards.
2. Threat Analysis and Incident Response
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential risks.
- Respond to and mitigate network security incidents in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintain incident logs and prepare reports for management on security breaches and mitigation actions.
3. System Administration & Maintenance
- Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Apply patches and updates to network hardware and software to address vulnerabilities.
- Support the academy's IT team in network troubleshooting and performance optimization.
4. Policy & Compliance
- Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal IT security standards.
- Provide guidance and training to staff and students on network security awareness.
5. Collaboration & Reporting
- Collaborate with IT, academic, and administrative teams to support technology needs.
- Prepare regular reports on network performance, security incidents, and improvements.
- Recommend security solutions and enhancements based on emerging threats and technology trends.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Experience
- 36 years of experience in network security or network administration.
- Experience in educational institutions or government organizations is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and wireless technologies.
- Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud security, virtualization, and security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to security incidents.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
