Position: Neurology Registrar
Job Purpose:
The Neurology Registrar is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with neurological conditions. The role includes supporting consultants, performing clinical procedures within granted privileges, and contributing to departmental quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial patient assessments, request and interpret investigations, and develop treatment plans under consultant supervision.
- Monitor patient progress and update consultants on significant changes.
- Participate in daily ward rounds and assist consultants during procedures.
- Document patient records accurately and maintain progress notes in compliance with hospital policies.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and neurological crises as per established protocols.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within scope of privileges.
- Prepare discharge summaries and medical reports electronically.
- Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, ethical standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Educate patients and families on neurological conditions and treatment plans.
- Provide bedside teaching and supervision for interns and residents.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and quality improvement projects.
- Maintain professionalism and compassion to enhance patient experience.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Completion of internship and residency programs.
- Postgraduate qualification in Neurology or related specialty.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of practice in Neurology after obtaining the higher degree in a tertiary care setting.
- Subspecialty training or certification is preferred.
- Licensing & Certification:
- Membership, Fellowship, or Board Certification in Neurology.
- Valid professional license from the country of origin, eligible for local regulatory approval.
