Job Summary:
Responsible for the provision of nursing orientation and training based on assessed training needs. Plans, prepares and implements continuing education programs for all nursing staff and evaluates the outcome.
Key Responsibilities
Education, Training & Competency Development
- Assess, plan, and implement educational programs based on identified training needs
- Prepare and deliver training programs and educational activities for nursing staff across all career stages
- Deliver competency-based education programs focused on skill enhancement and knowledge retention
- Develop evidence-based educational and training materials
- Prepare and manage the annual nursing education and training calendar
- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and initiatives
- Conduct competency assessments and certify nursing staff where required
- Develop, direct, and evaluate orientation programs for newly hired nursing staff
- Ensure appropriate preceptors are assigned to newly hired staff
- Identify ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
- Develop and support maintenance of clinical competencies specific to each clinical area
Clinical Governance, Quality & Patient Safety
- Integrate NMC guiding principles and model of care into nursing practice, ensuring compliance with DHA regulations and other relevant regulatory or accreditation bodies
- Ensure culturally appropriate, patient-focused nursing care is delivered
- Ensure international patient safety goals are consistently observed throughout the patient care journey
- Reinforce patient education by nursing staff regarding care processes and relevant health information
- Review and evaluate nursing documentation and recommend improvements as required
- Facilitate nursing documentation processes in coordination with the Hospital Information System team
- Suggest and implement clinical practice improvements as identified
- Investigate incidents and near-misses as delegated by the Nursing Administrator
Leadership, Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Serve as a resource person for nursing staff on education, training, and professional development
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe, high-quality patient care
- Coordinate and liaise with external agencies for nursing education and training
- Serve on nursing and hospital-wide committees related to patient care standards, policies, and procedures
- Represent nursing services on committees as appointed by the Nursing Administrator
- Monitor and report on professional behavior, conduct, and grooming standards of nursing staff
- Apply situational leadership tailored to staff and organizational needs
- Drive change, innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking within scope of practice
Operations, Reporting & Resource Management
- Utilize resources effectively and efficiently, ensuring cost-effectiveness
- Maintain a database of current and ongoing staff training and competency records
- Participate in departmental strategic planning in alignment with organizational goals
- Contribute to departmental budget planning as required
- Generate reports on educational activities and outcomes
- Report to the Nursing Administrator on staff professional development needs and performance
Professional Standards & Compliance
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior at all times
- Ensure all departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, and work instructions are regularly reviewed and updated as required
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing (BSc / MSc)
- Current Registered Nurse license in country of origin and valid DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE
- BLS certification required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred
- Minimum 8 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a Nurse Educator role
- Certification in education is preferred
- Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated sound decision-making, leadership, and organizational abilities
