Summary: The Nutanix Resident Engineer will play a crucial role in assessing and enhancing the usage of Nutanix products for customers, ensuring optimal deployment, administration, and support of their Nutanix environments.
Main Responsibilities:
Core duty includes assessing current usage of Nutanix products and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:
- Assess current usage of Nutanix products (core and portfolio) and drive adoption.
- Understand Nutanix best practices to present options to customers.
- Ensure good customer experience with administration and support of Nutanix environment, covering:
- Installation and configuration of Nutanix core products.
- Upgrades and patching.
- Migration from 3-tier to Nutanix.
- Cross hypervisor migrations (e.g., ESXi to AHV).
- Proactively monitor alerts and remediation.
- Troubleshoot performance and availability issues.
- Capacity planning & reporting.
- VM lifecycle management (creation, deletion, cloning, snapshot, etc.).
- Collaborate with Nutanix support for advanced troubleshooting.
- Participate in planning and execution of DR drills.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers on Nutanix best practices and architectures.
- Mentor junior team members on Nutanix administration.
- Liaise with support and third-party vendors to resolve issues.
- Automate administrative tasks using Nutanix products and features.
- Collaborate with the Nutanix Sales Team on customer communications and new opportunities.
- Keep customers informed with project statuses and updates.
- Conduct PoCs for Nutanix portfolio products.
- Train and enable customer resources.
Key Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in system administration and virtualization technologies.
- Excellent knowledge of Nutanix AOS/AHV and/or Hyper-V / VMware ESXi.
- Self-service and Flow networking (VPC) experience.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose complex problems across platforms.
- Customer-centric approach and excellent communication skills.
- High comfort level in delivering presentations and documentation.
Nice to Have:
- VMware certification such as VCP or VCAP.
- Nutanix NCP certification.
- Experience in workload migration (P2V and V2V).
- Understanding of storage technologies and data protection (replication, snapshots, etc.).
- Exposure to automation and scripting (Python/PowerShell preferred).
