Job Description


Role Description The Occupational Health & Safety Specialist is a part-time, remote role responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs across BG Capital Group's operations and portfolio companies as needed. This role includes assessing workplace risks, reviewing policies and procedures, and recommending practical controls to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. The specialist will conduct safety audits and inspections (virtual or on-site as required), support incident investigations, and prepare clear reports and action plans. Additional responsibilities include delivering safety training, advising leadership on occupational health and safety best practices, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture. The role requires proactive communication, timely documentation, and the ability to provide expert guidance to diverse teams and environments.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Health & Safety and Occupational Health, including the ability to develop and implement effective policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Workplace Safety, particularly in multi-site or diversified business environments.
  • Proficiency in Safety Training, including creating training materials and delivering sessions for varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA or equivalent) and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and the ability to translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels and work independently in a remote setting.
  • Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, CRSP, or equivalent) and experience in investment, corporate, or industrial environments are considered assets.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
