Requirements -
Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy.
A minimum of 2 years of proven paediatric experience with verifiable references
Valid drivers license and access to a car
Skilled in supporting children with learning difficulties or communication needs

Eligibility letter or DHA license will be mandatory
Job Summary:
To hold defined clinical caseload, combined with being an identified resource within the clinical setting, and provide teaching/ training for multi-disciplinary staff.
To assist in the development and research of paediatric occupational therapy services, and other service reviews.
To hold responsibility for defined projects.
To participate and contribute to developing the role of OT within the area of paediatric care, on a service wide and national level.
To comply with the Dubai Health Authority and College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
Clinical Responsibilities:
To plan and deliver a child centred specialist occupational therapy service to a personal caseload of children and their families/ carers in an out-patient setting. This will include seeing children
individually and/or in groups as appropriate.
Through analysis and synthesis of findings, develop individual goal oriented treatment and
intervention plans in collaboration with child (as appropriate), family/ carers and MDT. This will
include the application of skills to assess motor, sensory and cognitive function in the context of the child's social and physical environment.
To utilise specialist occupational therapy skills in the assessment of the parent/guardian's
understanding of treatment proposals, to gain valid informed consent for interventions and to work
within a legal framework where consent issues are complex.
To autonomously manage, treat and discharge a diagnostically varied and complex patient caseload.
To assess, prescribe, arrange provision and installation of specialised equipment and adaptations
including seating, wheelchairs and pressure relieving equipment.
To facilitate clients transitions from nursery to school, between classes and from school to adult
services.
To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
To ensure children's reviews demonstrate clinical reasoning and problem solving techniques to
determine agreed outcomes across healthcare.
To undertake risk assessments to determine appropriate management, specifically related to moving and handling and a safe use of equipment. Specific cases may warrant home assessments or assessment in other environments. To ensure safety for self and others during all occupational therapy interventions in school, child's home, centre and other appropriate environments.
To apply an advanced level of understanding of factors influencing child development and of the
effect of disability upon the child's occupational performance and the family. Provide training and
advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the child's environment.
To demonstrate specialist clinical knowledge underpinned by current evidence-based practice and
outcome measures.
To work with staff to identify occupational and functional goals within the clinical setting, and to
implement OT recommendations.
To demonstrate professional skills and standards consistent with being a specialist in the field and to ensure that services provided comply with professional and departmental standards of practice.
When necessary, to provide cover for other occupational therapists in their absence due to
annual/maternity / sick leave and other absences.
To work effectively and support Resources and therapy Coordinator to facilitate planning and
preparation of sessions.
To assist the HOD in writing/reviewing policies, paperwork, operational systems etc.
To maintain accurate and timely client records (SOAP format) and to share information in compliance with the policies of Sensation Station and Dubai Health Authority.
