Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

Officer - Medical Underwriting role is to support the evaluation, processing, and documentation of group medical underwriting activities in line with internal guidelines, policy conditions, and regulatory requirements while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high service standards.

Key Accountabilities

Underwriting Support

Review incoming group medical underwriting proposals and supporting documents.

Perform initial assessment of risk based on standard underwriting criteria.

Collect and verify loss ratios, claims experience, and other required data from clients or brokers.

Coordinate with sales and brokers to obtain missing information and clarify underwriting queries.

Policy Issuance & Documentation

Prepare draft quotations, terms & conditions, and schedule of benefits under supervision.

Assist in preparing underwriting approvals and internal memos.

Ensure accurate issuance of policy documents and endorsements as per approved underwriting terms.

Update internal systems with accurate client and policy data.

Client & Broker Communication

Liaise with brokers and clients for basic queries and clarification regarding underwriting requirements.

Support the sales team in managing renewal data and providing technical inputs as required.

Ensure timely follow-ups with brokers/clients for documentation and approvals.

Regulatory & System Compliance

Adhere to all underwriting policies and ensure all underwriting decisions meet regulatory and internal standards.

Support documentation for reinsurance where required.

Ensure policy details are aligned with DHA/DOH/HAAD regulations for submission where applicable.

Reporting & MIS

Maintain trackers and logs for quotations, approvals, and issued policies.

Assist in preparing regular reports and MIS for the underwriting team and management.

Team Collaboration

Coordinate with internal teams such as Operations, Claims, Sales, and TPA for smooth issuance and servicing.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager to support departmental objectives.
