Position: Offshore Living Quarters Lead
Location: Qatar
Job Purpose
Lead and coordinate the engineering, integration, and installation activities related to Offshore Living Quarters (LQ) to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality accommodation facilities for crew and operational personnel. Oversee design development, interface management, and construction support in accordance with project requirements, codes, and company's standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design Leadership
- Lead the full LQ design scope including architecture, HVAC, safety systems, structural interfaces, electrical distribution, utilities, and accommodation layout.
- Ensure all LQ engineering activities meet project specifications, classification society requirements, and offshore regulations.
- Review and validate technical documents, drawings, layouts, and calculations prepared by internal teams and subcontractors.
- Drive design optimization to ensure space efficiency, safety, and crew comfort standards.
Project Coordination & Interface Management
- Coordinate with multidiscipline engineering teams (HSE, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Telecoms, MEP) to ensure smooth integration of LQ modules.
- Manage interfaces with hull, topsides, marine systems, vendors, and construction yards.
- Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, and constructability workshops.
- Ensure timely resolution of technical queries and change requests.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management
- Evaluate vendor proposals for LQ modules, architectural packages, furniture, lifesaving appliances, fire & gas systems, etc.
- Monitor vendor engineering progress, FATs, SATs, inspections, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Ensure subcontractors follow company's specifications and quality standards.
Construction & Installation Support
- Provide technical assistance during fabrication, pre-assembly, load-out, offshore installation, and commissioning.
- Review construction method statements, lifting plans, and installation procedures related to LQ modules.
- Ensure punch list items are resolved and support handover to operations.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the LQ design adheres to offshore safety regulations (SOLAS, MODU, IMO, ABS/DNV rules where applicable).
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Architectural, Marine, or related Engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in offshore accommodation or LQ module design, fabrication, or installation (preferred within EPC/EPCI companies).
- Strong understanding of offshore safety systems, living quarters architecture, HVAC, noise/vibration criteria, and marine regulations.
- Familiarity with offshore classification requirements (ABS, DNV, Lloyd's).
- Strong understanding of architectural layouts, fire & safety systems, and habitability standards.
- Experience managing engineering subcontractors and LQ module vendors.
