Chronicle Heritage Arabia (CH Arabia) is building an on-call roster of field archaeologists across all experience levels to support our growing portfolio of survey, excavation, and monitoring projects across the GCC, including major giga-project and heritage clients.
We're looking for archaeologists who are either already based in the GCC or able to travel to the region for significant periods of fieldwork, and who want flexible, project-based work with a leading international heritage consultancy.
We're recruiting across the full range of field roles, including:
- Staff Archaeologist — entry to mid-level fieldwork: excavation, survey, monitoring, and recording under supervision
- Associate Archaeologist — leads field teams, manages daily excavation/survey operations, ensures recording standards and site safety
- Senior Archaeologist — manages field components of a project as Project Archaeologist and acts as Field Director; liaises with PMO and client on delivery, quality, and schedule, and provides technical oversight of field teams
- Archaeological Surveyor — conducts topographic, geophysical, and GPS/GIS-based survey work to support excavation planning, site mapping, and spatial recording
What you'll bring:
- A degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Heritage Studies, or a related field (level of qualification and experience will be matched to role level)
- Hands-on field experience in excavation, survey, and/or heritage monitoring
- Willingness and ability to work across the GCC for extended field seasons, often in remote or desert environments
- Strong recording, documentation, and reporting skills
- Ability to work within a multi-national team and adapt to local cultural and regulatory context across GCC markets
What we offer:
- Flexible engagement options to suit your availability — day-rate, fixed-term project contracts, or freelance/sub-contractor arrangements
- The opportunity to work on some of the region's most significant heritage and giga-project sites
- A path into ongoing project work with CH Arabia as our pipeline grows
Whether you're an experienced field hand looking for your next deployment or a supervisor-level archaeologist seeking a standing relationship with a major heritage consultancy operating across the GCC, we want to hear from you.
