Job Purpose

Coordinate the operation and maintenance activities of the Phosphoric Acid Plant (PAP) to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance. The role is responsible for integrating operational requirements with maintenance planning to maintain high plant availability, optimize production, and ensure compliance with EHSS standards.

The position supports the effective operation of phosphate rock reaction, filtration systems, acid concentration units, and gypsum handling processes, while ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing operational downtime.

Key Accountabilities

Operational and Functional

Coordinate daily operational activities of the phosphoric acid plant to ensure stable and efficient production.

Monitor plant operating parameters to ensure production targets, quality specifications, and operational efficiency are achieved.

Coordinate maintenance planning and execution to minimize operational disruptions and maintain plant reliability.

Support troubleshooting and resolution of operational issues related to reaction tanks, filtration units, acid concentration systems, and slurry handling equipment.

Assist in planning and coordinating plant startups, shutdowns, and turnaround activities.

Ensure proper scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance activities in coordination with maintenance teams.

Monitor equipment performance and identify reliability improvement opportunities.

Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely repair and maintenance of critical plant equipment including:

o Reactors and digestion tanks

o PAN filters and filtration systems

o Pumps and slurry pipelines

o Heat exchangers and evaporators

o Cooling tower system

o Acid storage and transfer systems

o Gypsum slurry transport systems

Ensure work permits and maintenance activities are executed in accordance with plant safety procedures.

Maintain accurate records of operational performance, maintenance coordination, and plant performance indicators.

Support process optimization initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.

Ensure effective communication between operations and maintenance teams during routine and emergency situations.

Leadership & Professional Development

Promote a strong culture of safety, reliability, and operational discipline within the plant.

Support training and development initiatives for plant operators and maintenance personnel.

Encourage knowledge sharing and technical development within operations and maintenance teams.

Coordinate closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHSS teams to ensure smooth plant operations.

Communicate operational priorities and maintenance requirements to relevant stakeholders.

Support contractor coordination during maintenance and turnaround activities.

Facilitate effective communication between shift teams, maintenance planners, and plant leadership.

Share operational insights and improvement opportunities with management teams.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Process Engineering.

Alternatively, a technical degree with significant industrial experience in phosphoric acid plant operations.

Minimum Experience:

1015 years of experience in chemical plant operations or maintenance coordination, preferably in:

Phosphoric Acid Plants

Fertilizer production complexes

Chemical processing plants

Minimum 710 years of operational experience in phosphoric acid production facilities is preferred.
