Position Summary
As an Operations Graduate, you will join a structured training and development program that blends classroom learning with hands-on plant experience.
The program is designed to develop you into a Field Operator, responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant processes and equipment, while living Methanex's core values of integrity, trust, respect, and professionalism.
Position Responsibilities
Field Operations
- Conduct routine field rounds and equipment inspections
- Monitor instruments, collect readings, and report abnormalities
- Collect and deliver process samples for laboratory analysis
- Support unit start-ups, shutdowns, and normal operations
- Assist in troubleshooting and identifying early equipment issues
Safety & Emergency Response
- Follow plant safety procedures and participate in drills
- Act as part of the first response team during emergencies
- Maintain awareness of emergency equipment and response protocols
Permit to Work & Isolation
- Learn and support the Permit to Work system
- Assist with equipment isolation, locking, and tagging under supervision
- Progress toward Area Authority certification
Maintenance & Reliability
- Coordinate with maintenance teams during equipment preparation & Job execution
- Support safe and proper return of equipment to service
Control Room Interaction
- Collaborate with panel operators to understand process control
- Communicate field observations and respond to operational directives
Training & Development
- Rotate across operating units as part of the graduate framework
- Complete classroom and on-the-job training in process safety and plant systems
- Shadow experienced operators and gradually assume responsibility
Reporting & Operational Excellence
- Maintain accurate operational logs and reports
- Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support plant optimization, environmental compliance, and operational integrity
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (Chemistry)
- Graduation year 2023 or later
- Strong English communication skills (spoken & written)
- Computer literate with basic office applications
- Customer-focused mindset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective teamwork and communication abilities
- Positive, can-do attitude with a strong willingness to learn
