Operations & Lab Technician (Algae Systems)

ReFarm is at the forefront of the circular economy, turning waste into value. We are looking for a dedicated, hands-on professional to join our Murquab farm operations. This role is unique - it requires a mix of technical lab monitoring and physical site maintenance.

This is a live-on-site position for a proactive individual who excels in a hands-on environment. You will be responsible for the daily health of our algae systems, ensuring both the laboratory and the outdoor site meet our strict operational protocols.

• Site & Lab Maintenance: Execute daily cleaning protocols for both the laboratory and outdoor site using specific chemicals and bio-security equipment.
• System Operations: Maintain tanks and diffusers; operate water pumps, sterilizers, and sanitizing equipment according to protocol.
• Technical Monitoring: Use pH monitors, Lux meters, and other lab tools to record precise data; monitor the site for environmental contamination (sand, water, etc.).
• Resource Management: Manage substrates (e.g., chicken manure processing) and perform basic stock checks for essential supplies like Sweetwater and Sea water.
• Maintenance & Fabrication: Perform occasional patch-up work and equipment modifications. You must be comfortable using tools and applying common sense to mechanical fixes.
• Waste Management: Safe handling and discarding of organic waste materials.

• Communication: Fluent in English (Reading, Writing, and Speaking) to ensure accurate data recording and coordination with the Murquab farm team.
• Technical Aptitude: Previous experience with basic lab equipment or water systems is a plus.
• Practical Skills: Ability to use power tools and handle physical labor.
• Independence: Must be able to work alone and take initiative when necessary.
• Logistics: Valid driving license is required.
• Availability: Must be willing to live on-site.
• Profile: Ideally suited for a focused professional in their mid-to-late 20s.
