Job Description
Assist in the efficient operation and maintenance of various machinery and equipment aiming to have smooth loading/discharging operations in the specified port/terminal.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Moving controls, devices, and levers to drive forklifts of industry to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas.
- Organizing and securing stored materials such as bales, super sacks, boxes, pallets, and so on.
- Loading or unloading materials manually, off, or on to pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devises.
- Operate Mobile Harbour (MHC) for loading and unloading containers from vessels and safely operate mobile harbor cranes to handle various types of cargo, including containers, bulk goods, and general cargo
- Performing routine post and pre-inspections to ensure suitable working nature or forklift equipment beside conduct pre‑shift inspections to ensure all crane systems and components are functioning properly.
- Consulting, working, and coordinating with supervisors and managers regarding unloading and loading operations.
- Wrapping material loads with a wrapper and making clean the warehouse premises.
- The primary responsibility of a truck driver is to haul cargo from one point to another.
- They also need to inspect trucks for safety and follow the safety instructions, especially when carrying hazardous materials or chemicals.
- He is also responsible for the condition of his vehicle and look for any malfunctioning part.
- He must inspect the cargo to check whether it has been loaded correctly.
- Train driver(s) who works under him and drives in shifts to take off the pressure from one driver.
- They should have knowledge of how to maintain the truck in case it breaks down in the middle of nowhere.
- They must be punctual and follow the schedule to meet transportation and operations requirements.
- They must also be very careful and follow the precautionary measures when carrying hazardous or fragile materials, identify and report any malfunction.
- Performing other duties as allotted by a manager or supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations.
- Monitor weight limits and ensure proper balancing of loads.
Qualifications
Educational and Technical Qualifications:
- High School certificate. Diploma is a plus
- Valid U.A.E. Heavy Machinery License.
- Technical certification in port operations is an advantage.
Language Skills:
- Excellent English. Arabic is an added advantage
Years of Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in equipment operation within a terminal or similar industrial environment.
Nature of Experience:
- Prior experience operating reach stackers or empty handlers considered a natural progression.
- Strong understanding of container terminal operations: vessel logistics, hazardous cargo, break‑bulk, and special cargo handling.
- Familiarity with international safety standards and strict compliance with safe working practices.
