Job Overview:
The Optometrist Specialist provides comprehensive eye care services, including vision assessment, diagnosis of refractive and visual disorders, and management of ocular health. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through accurate examinations, appropriate prescriptions, patient education, and collaboration with ophthalmologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Duties:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, refraction, and ocular health.
- Diagnose and manage common visual and eye conditions within the scope of optometry practice.
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and visual aids.
- Identify and refer patients requiring advanced or surgical ophthalmic care.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with hospital policies and infection control standards.
- Educate patients on eye health, vision correction, and preventive care.
- Collaborate with ophthalmology, nursing, and allied health teams.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and continuous professional development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Optometry (or equivalent).
- Valid professional license and eligibility for SCFHS classification.
- Minimum of 35 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Strong clinical, communication, and patient counseling skills.
- Experience in hospital or clinical settings is an advantage.
