Job Summary
DBA services provide enterprise-wide Oracle Database Administration support for production systems with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and delivery timeliness. Also providing support for several internal and external customers facing Mission Critical and Business Critical database instances. A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. Additional role requirements are likely to include planning, development and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing, configuring, and upgrading oracle server software and related products installation
- Performing modifications of the database structure from information provided by application developers
- Install and admin oracle RACs
- Install and admin oracle golden gate
- Install and admin oracle data guard
- Performing monthly and annual performance reports for trend analysis and capacity planning
- Establishing and providing schema definitions, as well as table space, table, constraint, trigger, package, procedure, and index naming conventions
- Assisting developers with database design issues and problem resolutions
- Recovering the database in the event of hardware or software failure
- Create any new environment for any database upon user request
- Filtering database alarm and alert information
- Determining and setting critical thresholds for disk, etc.
- Enrolling new users while maintaining system security
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
- Performing database troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in oracle database administrator roles.
Required Skills:
- Ability to understand complex database architecture and customer instances and their interfaces to other systems is required.
- Has knowledge in creating primary database storage structures, designing and creating primary objects, modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance, designing interfaces.
- Has prior experience in oracle cluster and automatic storage management
- Has prior experience in oracle golden gate.
- Has prior experience in oracle Data guard.
- Ability to monitor and optimize performance of the database
- Exposure and practice at using the DBMS to optimize performance of large databases (Tuning DB and Application) for enterprise use is preferred
- Has prior experience of Install, Upgrade, Patching and Maintenance Support for Database
- Has prior experience of upgraded production environments
- Has good knowledge of PL/SQL, scripting (Perl, Shell scripts) for troubleshooting purposes.
