Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Packet Transport Operation Support Engineer to support 24x7 operations and lead complex IP/MPLS network migration and optimization activities within a telecom environment. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in multi-vendor networks and the ability to manage critical network operations and transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24x7 operational support and participate in on-call rotations for incident management.
- Lead large-scale ISP & MPLS router migrations across the network.
- Conduct impact assessments, risk analysis, and develop migration and rollback plans.
- Act as technical lead during maintenance windows and complex cutovers.
- Perform configuration migration, interface mapping, and service validation (L2/L3 VPN).
- Monitor network health using NMS tools and troubleshoot incidents.
- Coordinate with vendors, NOC, and architecture teams for network changes.
- Execute network upgrades to support traffic growth and scalability.
- Participate in CAB reviews and post-migration evaluations.
- Maintain and update network documentation and diagrams.
- Ensure adherence to change management processes and SLA requirements.
- Provide onsite support for hardware issues, recovery, and troubleshooting.
- Support multi-vendor environments including Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, and Load Balancers.
Core Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in:
- Routing protocols: OSPF, IS-IS, BGP
- MPLS technologies: LDP, RSVP-TE, Segment Routing
- VPN services: L2VPN, L3VPN, VPLS
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cisco (ASR 9K, NCS 5K)
- Huawei (NE40, NE9K, S9300, CX600-X8)
- Juniper (MX480)
- Knowledge of network automation (Python, Ansible, NAPALM, Netconf/YANG)
- Familiarity with traffic engineering, IP addressing, and migration workflows
- Experience with load balancers (F5, Brocade, Array)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Diploma in Telecommunications / Computer Science / Electrical Engineering
- Certifications preferred: CCNP / CCIE / JNCIP / JNCIE / HCIP / HCIE
Experience Required
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in IP/MPLS network operations
- At least 4 years in Mobile IP networks
- Proven experience in complex network migration projects
- Experience working with telecom operators (ISP/MPLS environments)
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to provide 24x7 support, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to travel across sites (own transport preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting, coordination, and communication skills
- Experience in multi-vendor environments
