Responsible for teaching English via the Learning Management System to students in grades 9-12.
Prepares and sets up responsible course before each cohort.
Orients students to their course, communicates requirements, sets and enforces deadlines, maintains regular daily live help sessions.
Plans and delivers high-quality online lessons to students.
Provides individualized instruction to help each student achieve curricular objectives.
Supports parents with student curricular and instructional issues, balances the flexibility of the iCademy curriculum with school policies and procedures.
Grades student work and maintains grade book, alerts administrators to concerns about student performance and progress, maintains regular contact with students and families via the Virtual Classroom Environment (Big Blue Button).
Creates and manages a home office.
Supports students with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment.
Supports students through basic computer troubleshooting.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in English, English Education, or a related field (Master's preferred)
Valid High School Teaching Qualification / License
Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in English or English Language Arts at the high-school level
High level of English proficiency suitable for teaching high-school English
Experience in an online learning environment
Experience working with the age group
Familiarity with literacy instruction best practices
Competency with educational technology platforms or willingness to learn new tools
Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
