Job Purpose
Responsible for leading spare parts logistics, operations, stock control, supply planning, and demand forecasting. The role ensures parts availability at optimum cost, drives operational efficiency, prevents overstock/aging, and supports service operations with on-time supply to enhance workshop productivity and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory & Stock Control
- Define and monitor minimum/maximum stock levels, safety stock, and reorder points.
- Review slow-moving, dead stock, and aged inventory; create action plans to reduce holding cost.
- Ensure stock accuracy through cycle counts, annual stock takes, and reconciliation.
- Approve purchase requests based on usage trends, forecasts, and service/market demand.
- Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Forecast spare parts demand based on vehicle population, historical consumption, and service campaigns.
- Analyze seasonal trends, failure rates, warranty patterns, and model-specific demand.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure optimal ordering cycles and supplier lead time alignment.
- Support pricing strategy with cost analysis and market benchmarking (where applicable).
- Logistics Operations
- Oversee inbound & outbound logistics: customs clearance, transportation, distribution, returns.
- Maintain warehouse layout optimization using FIFO, FEFO, and ABC classification.
- Ensure packing, storage, and handling standards to avoid damage/shrinkage and improve traceability.
- Supplier Coordination & Procurement Support
- Work closely with OEMs / vendors to manage backorders, lead times, and supply constraints.
- Review supplier performance on delivery accuracy, fill rate, and order fulfillment.
- Negotiate order schedules, emergency shipments, and warranty stock / return agreements.
- Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare monthly reports on inventory turnover, stock aging, fill rates, and service level KPIs.
- Monitor branch stock distribution and support balancing between locations.
- Provide management with improvement plans, risk assessments, and cost-saving initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or Logistics
- 5-8 years of spare parts/logistics experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory/lead role.
- Inventory planning, logistics flow, supply chain fundamentals, warehouse systems.
- DMS/ERP (SAP, Oracle, Autoline/CDK, or similar), Excel, forecasting tools.
- Basic parts catalog usage, service workshop process flow, demand triggers.
- Leadership, communication, analytical skills, decision-making under pressure.
